Some festivals leave footprints. Crna Ovca — The Black Sheep — has been leaving them in Baška since 2006, and this year it celebrates a milestone: its 20th edition. From 15 to 17 May, the quiet harbour village of Baška on the island of Krk transforms into a celebration of lamb, music, sport and island life that draws visitors from across Croatia and beyond.
The anniversary edition promises to be the boldest yet — three days of programming that spans every corner of the village, from the seafront Palada stage to the intimate courtyard of the Church of the Holy Trinity.
Music That Moves You

The concert line-up is a careful blend of new and familiar. Friday opens with BluVinil, one of Croatia's most exciting emerging acts, followed by the indie-alternative veterans Mayales. Saturday raises the energy with She Loves Pablo's stoner-grunge sound and closes with the legendary Leta 3, whose Crna Ovca sets have become the stuff of local legend. Jazz lovers can enjoy the Šimun Matišić Quintet and The Mystic Rose Ensemble in an intimate new setting — the square in front of the Church of the Holy Trinity.
The Real Star: Baška Lamb

The true centrepiece of Crna Ovca has always been the young Baška lamb. Restaurants, street stalls and the specially curated food corner serve it every way imaginable — spit-roasted, as stew, sausages, burgers and wraps. For this jubilee edition, renowned chef Zdravko Tomšić leads a professional masterclass exploring the full gastronomic potential of this island staple.
Sport, Culture and Heritage
The Bašćanska Regata sailing memorial takes place on the sea, while on land there are mountain hikes, children's theatre performances and traditional dry-stone walling workshops. The youngest visitors can join workshops in Glagolitic script writing and wool felting. Astronomer Korad Korolević returns with his annual talk — a firm favourite that fills the school hall every year.
