Baska on the island of Krk is more than just an outdoor destination — its beaches have been drawing visitors for over a century. Vela Beach, stretching a full 1.8 km, combines fine shingle and sand with exceptionally clear water. Hidden coves like Oprna, Vela Luka and Bunculuka are accessible only on foot or by fast water taxi — and each rewards those who make the effort to find it.

Vela Beach Baska
The icon of Baska — 1.8 km of fine shingle and sand, sheltered by rocky hills with views across to the Velebit mountains.
Bunculuka
Well-known naturist cove about 1 km west of Vela Beach. Surrounded by pine forest and coarse shingle.
Oprna
The most secluded cove near Baska. Untouched nature, pearlescent water, total silence. No facilities — bring food and water!
Vela Luka
Sheltered cove popular with sailors and kayakers. The Baska–Vela Luka trail (6 km) is one of the most popular routes.
Mala Luka
Tiny cove right next to Vela Luka — almost always calm. Ideal for snorkelling. Rarely crowded even in August.
Zablace
Smaller beach in the immediate vicinity of Baska's old town centre, popular with locals.
Perscanska
Cove with a long promenade and clear water, sheltered from the south. Popular with families with young children.
Stara Baska
Small authentic fishing hamlet on the south-west side of the island. Beach surrounded by vineyards and olive groves.
Jablanovo
Small cove between Bunculuka and Oprna — accessible only by kayak, SUP or water taxi. Crystal water with up to 10 m visibility.
Malo Storisce
Popular with local youngsters for natural cliff-jumping spots and exceptionally clear water. Accessible by boat only.

Island Prvic
Uninhabited islet just 2 km from Baska harbour — sea caves, clear shallow coves and outstanding underwater flora and fauna.
Water taxis from Baska harbour
The only practical way to reach the most beautiful hidden coves. Depart from the harbour (near the fish market), season June–September.

Naturist beach in pine forest — much faster than walking.

The only practical option without a 6 km hike.
